Snyder, Marjorie M.
Marjorie M. Snyder, 84, of Kalona, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Parkview Manor in Wellman following a short illness. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, with Father David Brownfield officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with a rosary being said at 7 p.m.
Marjorie Marie Snyder was born May 30, 1928, in Washington County, the daughter of Harold and Sarah (Dawson) Stumpf. She graduated from Kalona High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Melvin Snyder on Nov. 11, 1951. The couple later divorced. Marjorie worked at CIVCO in Kalona from 1994 until 2010.
She enjoyed baking, flowers, crocheting, walking on the treadmill, and watching cooking shows and golf on TV.
Survivors include two children, Teresa “Terri” and husband Bob Duwa of Washington, Iowa, and Michael and wife Anna Snyder of Hammonton, N.J.; one son-in-law, Greg Marshall of Vandalia, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kyle Marshall, Phil Duwa, Kayla Duwa and Alex Marshall; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Marshall; three sisters, Marilyn Charbanneaux of Sacramento, Calif., Jane Cannon of Portland, Ore., and Joanne and husband Dayle Chalupa of Kalona; and two sisters-in-law, Sharon Stumpf of Kalona and Joan Stumpf of Tacoma, Wash.
Preceding Marjorie in death were her daughter, Tina Marshall; and three brothers, Tom, Arlis and Jim Stumpf.
A memorial fund has been established for the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
