Snell, Jacqueline Heppner
Jacqueline Heppner Snell, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Holley. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial service: 1 p.m. Friday at Lemke Funeral Home South, Clinton, Iowa, where the family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial: Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; sons, Arlin Heppner of New York City, Joe (Margaret) Heppner of Marshall, Mich., and Randy Heppner of Bennington, Neb.; daughters, Sue (Gary) Schropp of Swisher, and Sally (Kerry) Bruckner of Clinton; and brother, Tom (Denise) Decker.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chad Schropp, Joshua (Nicole) Heppner, Matthew (Celia) Heppner, Amanda (Ben) Sullivan, Eric Bruckner and Travis and Alex Heppner; great-grandchildren, Drew and Nadia Heppner and Hailey and Bailey Sullivan; and several special nieces and nephews.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Joanne Kirk.
Born Jan. 7, 1934, in Norfolk, Neb., Jackie was the daughter of Jesse and Velma (Skiff) Decker. Jackie married Dean Heppner in Norfolk, Neb., and were later divorced. On June 7, 1986, she married Gary Snell in the Eastview Christian Church in Cedar Rapids. Jackie was owner/manager of Henry's Drive-Inn in Clinton, for many years. Jackie and her family have many fond memories of family members and friends during this time. After moving to Cedar Rapids, she started working for Linn County from where she retired.
