Smothers, David T.
Memorial services for David T. Smothers, 54, of Coralville, will be held Monday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Grant Nebel officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from noon until service time Monday at the funeral home. David died at his home in Coralville on Monday, March 15, 2010, following a lengthy illness.
David was born Aug. 30, 1955, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Arnold K. and Mary Ruth (White) Smothers. He graduated from Washington High School. He was employed by Centro, Inc, in North Liberty as a business process owner. He attended Parkview Church in Iowa City, and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and was a member of the Harley Davidson owner's group. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Arkansas Razorback fan.
Survivors include his mother, Lea Smothers of Washington; three brothers, Collin (Joann) Proctor of Wilton, Dr. Brian (Tamara) Proctor of La Crosse, Wis., and Todd (Marsha) Smothers of West Des Moines; and two sisters, Patricia (Bill) Bolton of Peoria, Ill., and Brenda (Gary) Wilhelm of Cranston.
Preceding David in death were his father, Arnold, on July 31, 2009; and birth mother, Mary Ruth Smothers.
A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society and Iowa City Hospice.
