Smith, Roger
Roger Smith, 58, of Marion, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011. His body will be cremated and an informal memorial open house will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Teahen Funeral Home Reception Hall, Walford. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Roger is survived by his wife, Marita Fadley-Smith; children, Jake, Steven, Tim, Mary, Dorothy, Adriane (Andrew) and Jerome (Melissa) Watson; eight grandchildren, brothers, Stanley (Sharon), Ed (Mardine) and Mark; and a sister, Vickie (Denny) Schafer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Karen Smith; and a brother, Clay Smith.
Roger had worked for Central Iowa Concrete Construction and later for HACAP Housing before becoming disabled.
He enjoyed being outdoors and having cook outs and bonfires with family and friends. Roger looked forward to playing with his grandchildren and going to ball games.
Roger would like to thank his family and friends for all of their help.
A memorial fund has been established and cards may be sent to Marita Fadley-Smith, 131 Cedar Rd., Marion, IA 52302.
