Smith, LeRoy A.
LeRoy A. Smith, 62, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iowa City. No visitation or services. Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements by Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, Burlington.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Sandy Smith of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Marlene (Christopher) Small of New York; grandson, Christopher Small Jr.; brothers, Wayne Smith of Bozeman, Mon., and Terry “Penney” Smith of Danville; nieces and nephews.
Born Feb. 28, 1947, in Burlington, he was the son of the late Elvin and Dorothy Perkins Smith. He married Sandy Newcomb on Feb. 28, 1970. They later divorced. LeRoy was an independent delivery person around the Cedar Rapids area. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids. He was an avid sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, and collected model cars.
