Smith, Kathleen 'Katie' Helen
Kathleen “Katie” Helen Smith, 80, of Montezuma, Iowa, formerly of Muscatine, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Montezuma Nursing Home and Rehab Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Local arrangements are in the care of the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Katie's name. Sympathy notes may be left to the family at .
Kathleen Helen Ketchum was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Freeman and Helen “Goldie” (Wilson) Ketchum. In 1953 she was united in marriage to Lloyd H. Smith in Palmyra, Mo. Katie enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, baking, playing cards, and more than anything spending time with her grandchildren.
Katie is survived by her daughters, Brenda Jackson of Nichols, and Debbie Willis of Tipton; son-in-law, Dan Ronan of Lone Tree; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Frieden of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Marvin “Butch” Ketchum of Ely, Iowa, and Dale Ketchum of Angleton, Texas.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; daughter, Sandy Ronan; son-in-law, Alan Willis; sister, Betty Krahmer; and one brother, Richard Ketchum.
