Smith, Evelyn K.
CEDAR RAPIDS - Evelyn K. Smith, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at Northbrook Manor in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Preston. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Preston. Luncheon will follow burial. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, is handling funeral arrangements.
Evelyn was born March 19, 1914, in Preston, to Jacob and Libbie Gollobit. She married Ralph Smith on Nov. 22, 1932, in Preston. He preceded her in death Oct. 5, 1967. They owned and operated Smith Oil Co.
Evelyn is survived by two sisters, Mary Johnson of Sabula and Alta Russell of Aledo, Ill.; and many loving nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Edward, Virtus and Lawrence.
Evelyn's family would like to extend a special thanks to staff of Northbrook Manor for their loving care.
