Smith, Donna J.
Donna J. Smith, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; daughters, Terrie (Ken) Thompson of Hiawatha, Brenda (Dave) Hansel of Hills, Minn., and Julie (Darrel) Landvatter of West Bend, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, Andrew (Valerie) Thompson, Jill (James) Jandl, Scott (Pam) Hansel, Kelsey (Peter) Coates, Caleb Hansel, Heather Hansel, Adam and Nikki Neu, Shawna, Ryan, Megan and Kayla Landvatter; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Riley Jandl; and brother, Harry (Diane) Bird of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donna was born May 4, 1940, the daughter of Harry and Theresa Bird in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A 1958 graduate from St. Wenceslaus, she worked at Collins Radio. On Oct. 10, 1959, she was united in marriage to William Smith in Cedar Rapids. Donna became a stay-at-home mom to take care of her daughters.
Donna was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible Church. She enjoyed knitting.
