Smid, Helen
Helen Smid, 74, of West Union, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at her home from a brief illness. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in West Union, where visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial: West Union Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; three sons, Terry Smid of West Union, Bobby Smid of Waterloo and Jamie (Jenny) Smid of Dunkerton; a daughter, Annie (Lester Jr.) Sass of West Union; a brother, Harold (Betty) Walvatne of Waterloo; three sisters, Arlene Peck of Marion and Hazel and LaVanda Walvatne, both of West Union; seven grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, June Walvatne of Hawkeye.
