Smeltzer, Imogene
Imogene Smeltzer, 90, of Lowden, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday, St. James Catholic Church, Toronto, Iowa. Burial: Wilcox Cemetery, Viola. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Born July 27, 1919, in Olin, the daughter of John Jurgensen and Lena Kreger, she married John Smeltzer on Aug. 21, 1941, in Mechanicsville.
Survivors include two sons, Russell (Judy) of Sigourney and Dennis of Waterloo; a daughter, Leslie (Tom) Miller of Mentor, Ohio; a sister, Deloris Eganhouse of Wyoming; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brother, Everett; and son, Vincent.
Imogene was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Lowden Legion Auxiliary. She had been a resident of the Clarence Nursing Home for the past 12 years and received excellent loving care
