Smalley, Marcia 'Marcy'
Marcia “Marcy” Smalley, 74, of Burkburnett, Texas, passed away March 11, 2012. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Owens & Brumley chapel in Burkburnett, with Kerry Finley officiating, under direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
Marcy was the daughter of the late Gene and Margurite Minor of Fairfax, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ted Smalley; daughter, Cindy Culwell and her husband, Larry, of Wichita Falls, Texas; brother, Lee Minor and his wife, Priscilla, of Fairfax; sister, Myra Holley and her husband, Bob, of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Lauren of Portland, Ore., and Mathew of Wichita Falls, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Marcy loved the outdoors and her animals - be it training horses, raising llamas or breeding registered miniature donkeys. Marcy was a professional cowgirl, trick rider and rodeo timer for many years. She also competed in the goat tying and steer un-decorating in all-girl rodeos. Marcy held two gold cards, one in the PRCA and one in the WPRA. Ted and Marcy and daughter Cindy rodeoed for many years, finally settling down in Burkburnett, Texas.
She will be greatly missed by her many rodeo friends, close friends and family and her beloved dog, “Dally.”
