Slingluff, Mary Kathryn
Mary Kathryn Slingluff, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Visitation will be Monday, April 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ivan Nienhaus will officiate.
Survivors include her son, Phil (Karen Kamberling) Slingluff of Hiawatha; a brother, James (Peg) Rauenbuehler of Fort Collins, Colo.; sister-in-law, Joan Rauenbuehler of San Mateo, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Marianne Rauenbuehler of White Fish Bay, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; brothers Walter, John, and Mark; sister Pauline Fifer; and an infant sister.
Mary was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Bathilda Koestner Rauenbuehler. She married Jack William Slingluff on Jan. 27, 1942, in Burlington. Mary was a buyer for Armstrong's Department Store in Cedar Rapids and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Her faith was very important to her and she was very devoted. Mary enjoyed dining out, wine, and poppy seed kolaches.
