Slife, Mary V.

Mary V. Slife, 73, of Center Point, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Faith Bible Church in Robins, by the Rev. Dale Holloway. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.

Survivors include her children, Nancy (Grant) Rees of Center Point, Ronald (Sally) Slife and David (Jennifer) Slife, both of Toddville, Krista (Robert) Stewart of Runnells, and Benjamin Slife of Coralville; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Donna Cope of Eldon, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry in 2007; and two brothers, Walter and Harold Cope.

Mary was born March 13, 1937, in Springville, the daughter of Byron H. and Sarah (Edgerton) Cope. On July 5, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to Larry Slife at the Christian Missionary Alliance in Cedar Rapids. Mary was a homemaker and had worked for Gentiva Home Health Care for several years. Mary enjoyed attending church and actively volunteering, especially in the educational areas of faith. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling and attending activities for her children and grandchildren.

Mary's faith and her family were the focus and the loves of her life.

A memorial fund has been established in Mary's memory.
