Slattery, Imelda
Imelda Slattery, 82, of Dubuque, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at St. Joseph Church, Key West Dubuque with the Rev. Michael Podhajsky officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Dubuque. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd., Dubuque, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
She was born on October 21, 1930, in Dubuque, the daughter of Neil and Mary (Molony) Kenneally. She married James J. Slattery on Oct. 18, 1952, at Saint Patrick's North Garryowen and together they shared 51 wonderful years until Jim's death in 2003.
Imelda was a homemaker for many years, raising her family. She later worked for the Iowa Title Company until her retirement.
She enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Minnesota Vikings, The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Wisconsin Badgers.
She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Paul) Gorrell and Pat Slattery, both of Dubuque, Sharon Slattery of North Liberty, and Dave (Stacy) Slattery, of East Dubuque, Ill.; four grandchildren, Chris (Meggan), AJ (Jennifer), Terra and Heather;and eight great-grandchildren, Alec, Averi, Frankie, Asah, Sam, Joey, Aidan and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister.
