Simpson, Loretta
Loretta Simpson, 78, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Millersburg, died after a sudden illness on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. As per her wishes, she was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Powell Funeral Home in North English is handling arrangements.
Loretta was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Center Point, Iowa, a daughter of William and Bertha (Taylor) Bennett. She attended school in Marengo. Loretta was married to Ralph Moessner on June 3, 1950. He preceded her in death and she later married Carroll Simpson on April 1, 1980. He too preceded her in death. Loretta worked many years at the Amana Woolen Mills and after Ralph's death owned and operated Ralph's Sanitation in Middle Amana. She lived in Millersburg before becoming a resident of the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Leatrice (Kenneth) McGuire of North English; sons, Ron (Beth) Moessner of Mountain Home, Idaho, Russell (Lenora) Moessner of Nampa, Idaho and Randy Moessner of Oskaloosa; four stepchildren; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Bader of Hiawatha; a brother-in-law, Reynold Moessner of Middle Amana; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Mangold of Marengo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three brothers and two sisters.
