Simpson, George W.
George W. Simpson, 78, of Center Point, passed away Sept. 29, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. There will be a service to celebrate George's life at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with Ken Graham officiating. A visitation will be before the service starting at 4:30 p.m.
Survivors include George's wife, Helen; three sons, Steve (Charlet) Simpson of Vancouver, Wash., Terry (Andrea) Simpson of Hermston, Ore., and Rob (Kami) Simpson of Vancouver, Wash.; four daughters, Denice (Rick) Dronen of Vancouver, Wash., Deb (Jeff) Schwiebert of Eldridge, Lori (Ryan) Burrell of Quasqueton and Teresa (Dennis) Herb of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Pat) Simpson of Montreal, Mo.; brothers-in-law, Paul Zaruba of Bellevue and John Zaruba of Marion; and sister-in-law, Mary Walke of Cedar Rapids.
George was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandy Thompson; and daughter, Rhonda Simpson.
George W. Simpson was born Oct. 25, 1932, in Labadie, Mo., the son of George and Betty (Neuhaus) Simpson. George worked as a carpenter and was employed by Overhead Door.
George dearly loved his wife, family, woodworking and fishing.
