Simpson, Dolores Ann
Dolores Ann Simpson, 84, of Marion, left this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include three children, James (Katherine) Simpson of Dallas, Texas, Cynthia (Mark) Doolittle of Story City and Michael Simpson of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Wanda (Lyle) Schaefer of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Simpson of Atlanta, Ga., Caroline (Jeffrey) Endres of Fort Worth, Texas, Jennifer (Darryl) MacRunnel of Boone and Tara (Dylan) O'Brien of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five great-grandchildren, Alison, Logan, Noah and Tessa MacRunnel and William Endres.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alton; a brother, Dewayne Kemmerer; and a sister, Dorothy Kemmerer.
Dolores was born May 12, 1928, the daughter of LeRoy and Berniece (Johnson) Kemmerer in Boone, Iowa. She graduated from Jordan High School and earned her bachelor's degree at UNI. Dolores was a teacher at Vernon Middle School, among others. She married Alton Claire Simpson. He passed Sept. 30, 2010.
Dolores was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the Marion Library and was an avid reader. She enjoyed nature, fishing and traveling. Dolores loved time spent with her family.
