Siggins, Kenneth Richard

Kenneth Richard Siggins, 83, died Monday, May 20, 2013, in his Lisbon home, with his family by his side. Ken's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Federated Church, Lisbon. Ken's visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. Ken is to be buried in Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

Surviving Ken are his three daughters, Chris Siggins, Marion, Denise (Bruce) Reckling, Mount Vernon, and Lori (David) McMahon, DeWitt; son, Dave (Deb) Siggins, Lisbon; nine grandchildren, Porter Zikmund, Erica (Dan) Albright, Lindsay Reckling, Brandon Siggins, Jake Siggins, Keegan Siggins, Amanda Siggins, Lindsey McMahon and Brittney (Matt) Struve; three great-grandchildren, Jack Zikmund and Quinton Brown and Kenley Siggins; and a special four-legged friend, Mike, the yellow lab.

Also surviving are special girls, Sara, Ashley, Krista, Madi and Lacey; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ken in death were his wife, Marjorie; two children, Kathy and Steve Siggins; his parents; one brother, Donald Siggins; and one sister, Margaret Hendricks.

Ken was born Nov. 23, 1929, in Lisbon, Iowa. He was the youngest child of Harry and Florence Brackett Siggins. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1949 and attended college in Greely Colorado. He married Marjorie Dillon on June 26, 1949, at the Methodist Church, Lisbon. Ken farmed all of his life but also worked for Quaker Oats and for the City of Mount Vernon as a water superintendent for over 25 years. Following retirement from the city, he worked for Lynch Ford. Ken was always helping out family and was a great care taker for his beloved wife.

Ken was a faithful member of the First Federated Church and The Gideons International of Anamosa. He liked to mow yards, the Cubs, the Hawkeyes and coffee. They also enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii and special cruises.

In lieu of flowers and green plants, memorials in Ken's name may be donated to the First Federated Church, 115 N. Walnut, Lisbon, IA 52253; Hospice of Unity Point, P.O. Box 3026, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402; or The Gideons International, P.O. Box 201, Anamosa, IA 52205.
