Siemer, Harley Henry
Harley Henry Siemer, 82, of Nashville, Tenn., died Oct. 23, 2010. Services were held Oct. 26 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Nashville.
Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Siemer and fiance, Sam Eldridge, Cindy Siemer Moore and Marcia Simonetta and husband, Rusty; granddaughters, Lauren and Meghan Moore; grandsons, David and Brandon Simonetta; sisters, Marjorie Hoffman and Gloria Aanenson and husband, Gordon; brother, Dennis Siemer and wife, Vivian; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Frances Smith Siemer.
He was born in Grand Prairie Township, Minn., and graduated from Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn. Harley and Frances were married in Anamosa, Iowa, where he was employed by the Anamosa Men's Reformatory.
Harley was retired from the Tennessee State Department of Corrections and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity. As supervisor on site, he worked on 350 houses and inspired hundreds of volunteers with his commitment and good humor. He received several awards for volunteerism, including the Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative 2010 Local Hero Award, given in a special ceremony on Oct. 22.
Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, American Red Cross, Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity or a charity of choice.
