Siebels, Lawrence J.
Lawrence J. Siebels, 95, of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Stanwood Lutheran Church, Stanwood, by the Rev. Jordan McKinley. Burial: Stanwood Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Born May 8, 1918, in Monticello, son of Menno Garret and Fannie (Schaefer) Siebels, he married Louise Lehrman on Dec. 20, 1945. She died Dec. 11, 2007. Lawrence served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and received a Purple Heart. He also was a member of the Stanwood Legion and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood.
Survivors include two sons, Dale of Stanwood and Dave (Sue) of Stanwood; daughter, Shirley Poucher of Denver, Colo.; sister, Irene Pauline Mardorf; grandchildren, Becky Lynn (Poucher) Gertson, Deborah Ann, Vickie Ann (Poucher), Bryan David, Carrie Beth Hahn (Joel), Michael Grant, Christine Marie and Daniel Lawrence; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Jody Lee Hahn, Elizabeth Ann Marie (Hahn) and Aliya Joan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Agusta; brother, Edward; sister-in-law, Alice Siebels; and brother-in-law, Richard Mardorf.
