Sickels, Vera Ann
Vera Ann Sickels, 83, of Ruskin, Fla., went to be with the Lord Oct. 10, 2013.
She was born in Silver Creek, Iowa, on Jan. 17, 1930. She was a graduate of Oneida High School. She married Kennith Sickels in 1948 and lived in Manchester and Anamosa before moving to Ruskin in 1969.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, T. Wesley and Clara Carrothers; her brother, Earl Carrothers; a grandson, Eric Sickels; and a grandnephew, Jordan Parmely.
She is survived by four children, Stephen (Cristine) Sickels, Kennith (Deb) Sickels Jr., Carol (Keith Powers) Baxley and Belinda (Robert Dirmyer) Yutesler; her brother, Don (Freda) Carrothers; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was actively involved in the Ruskin United Methodist Church and a devoted volunteer to many organizations, including many years in the Silver Haired Legislature, Ruskin Garden Club, Ruskin Women's Club, Elks, Lions Club, Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
She will be missed beyond measure.
Funeral services and interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Silver Creek United Methodist Church and Cemetery.
