Sibley, William 'Bill'
William “Bill” Sibley, 60, of North Liberty, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 30, at Lensing's Oak Hill Funeral Home in Coralville from 1 to 3 p.m., with the funeral service starting at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Bill was born Jan. 11, 1952, in Iowa City. He was the son of William and Ione Sibley. Bill graduated from West High School in 1970. After graduation, he attended the University of Iowa. He worked for his father at their business, Sibley Upholstery, for many years. He worked for the University of Iowa, and retired after 25 years. On June 26, 1976, he married Janine Zemke. From this union came three children: Alexa, Erika and Jonathan. In April 1985, he married Ila Irving, and they resided in North Liberty.
Bill had a love of music, which started when he played the trumpet in grade school. He was also an avid fan of NFL football, especially the Chicago Bears.
Survivors include Ila, his wife of 27 years; daughters, Alexa (Eric) Hoffmann of Dexter, Iowa and Erika Sibley of Ankeny; a son, Jonathan (Shae) Sibley of Phoenix, Ariz.; his siblings, Sue Powers of Parnell, Becky (Tom) Reichelt of North Liberty, Libby (John) Lee of Coralville and Scott Sibley of North Liberty; his former wife, Janine Zemke Jordison; and six grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jeffrey.
