Shirley Mae Thompson,

77, of Marion, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at

First United Methodist Church, 5050 REC Dr., Marion. Visitation will be held one hour before the service Saturday at the church. Iowa Cremation is caring for Shirley and her family.

Shirley Mae Camp was born Sept. 20, 1940, the daughter of Joseph and Celia (Hartson) Camp. Shirley was united into marriage to Rod Thompson on Nov. 11, 1961. She worked as a secretary then dispatcher at Cedar Rapids City Bus and then general operations manager at Linn County Lifts. She volunteered her time with the St. Luke's Gift Shop, the Nature Center and Shueyville United Methodist Church as a district officer with the United Methodist Women, and with the American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley enjoyed traveling and loved to go on bird watching walks wherever she traveled.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Lewis Mottinger, Gilbert (Diane) Camp and Frank (Evelyn) Camp.

Left to cherish Shirley's memories are her husband, Rod Thompson of Marion; two children, Brian (Shelly) Thompson and Brenda (Ken) Hollinger; three grandchildren, Brett Thompson, Ian Hollinger and Nolan Hollinger; and two brothers, Dale (Nancy) Camp and Richard Camp.
