Shirley J. Schultz, 81, of Hiawatha, died March 11, 2016, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Updated Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ss. Joseph and Cabrini Catholic Church, East Pleasant Plain. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. before the service at 1 p.m. at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Shirley is survived by her seven children, Marian (Leonard) Milender of Fairfield, Stephen (Janet) of Grimes, Audrey (Joseph) Sheller of Cedar Rapids, Christopher (Dawn) of St. Petersburg, Fla., Douglas (Kris) of Fairfield, Paula (David) Chicoine of Elk Horn, Neb., and Michelle (Darren) Schroud of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Susan Schultz Poole of Jacksonville, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, Rachel, David, Amanda, Jonathon, Theresa, Katy, Nina, Benjamin, Matthew, Julie, Laura, Gregory, Denver, Blu, Hayley, Emma, Marinna, Gabriella, Ren and Rory; great-grandchildren, Nikayla, Tristan, Amelia, Relena, Quinn, Oliver, Elizabeth, Juliet, Nathan and George; stepgrandchildren, Nichlaus and Ethan; and brother, Robert Gregory of Tipton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Michael; granddaughter, Nicole Schroud; daughter-in-law, Marianna; her parents; and five siblings, Marguerite Collison, Edith Walters, Stanley Gregory, Mary Hadley and Albert Gregory.
Shirley June was born July 21, 1934, in West Liberty, the daughter of Stanford and Grace Ferguson Gregory. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City. She married George Ralph Schultz on Feb. 12, 1955, in Tipton. She worked for 40 years as an RN at Jefferson County Hospital and at Jefferson County Public Health, retiring in 1999.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Puppy Jake Foundation.
