Shirley Tompkins Mort, 84, of Marengo, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at Rose Haven Nursing Home following an extended illness. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be contributed to Rose Haven Nursing Home in Shirley's name. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Melissa Murphy and husband Dennis of Vancleave, Miss.; two grandsons, Justin N. Murphy of Kenner, La., and Joshua M. Murphy and wife Michelle of Ocean Springs, Miss.; three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Matthew and Karley Murphy of Ocean Springs; and a sister, Barbara Tompkins Wilkinson of Marengo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Edna Randolph Tompkins; her husband, Richard L. Mort; a son, Richard J. Mort; a sister, Marjorie Tompkins Larson; and brothers-in-law John Wilkinson and Al Larson.
