SHIRLEY MARIE MARTINSON

Shirley Marie Martinson, 88, of Alburnett, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Mercy Hallmar, Cedar Rapids. Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at St. John Lutheran Church, Center Point, conducted by Pastor David L. Hansen. The family will greet friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City. Arrangements made by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin; children, Terry (Judie) Martinson of Cedar Rapids and Gayle (Curt) Zingula of Central City; grandchildren, Jesse Martinson and Tracie Martinson of Cedar Rapids, Brad (Shannon) Zingula of Rochester, Minn., Elizabeth Zingula (Shawn Beilby) of Manchester, Brian Zingula (Rama Isaac) of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Jennifer Zingula (Dan Saladin) of Ames; and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Natalie, Katelyn and Megan Beilby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard "Dick" Alderman.
Shirley was born May 26, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Dwight and Lillian (Keith) Alderman. She graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids. She later attended Iowa State Teacher's College. On Feb. 2, 1952, Edwin and Shirley were united in marriage in Cedar Rapids. Shirley was a member at St. John Lutheran Church in Center Point. She had a wonderful collection of Precious Moments. Shirley was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always had a hug and a kiss for everyone.
