Shirley I. Knight, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at ManorCare, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Hyeunmee Kang. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Jack Havel) Hayes of Ashville, N.C.; sons, Mike (Kathy) Knight and David Knight, both of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Dee Knight of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mary D. (Earl) Reeve of Cedar Rapids; brother, J. Clark (Joan) Ross of Waterloo; and sister-in-law, Shirley Ross of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willis; son, Jeff; and brother, Bill Ross.
Shirley was born May 14, 1928, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Bryant) Ross, in Hayesville, Iowa. On Jan. 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Willis T. Knight in Cedar Rapids. Shirley worked at Wilson Foods, was a sales clerk and worked in the janitorial industry.
Shirley enjoyed drawing, sketching and camping. She loved to listen to music, watch the deer, collect dolls and most of all, spend time with her family. Shirley was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.
