Shirley Jane (Smith) Kimball, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on April 28, 2023. Private family funeral services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Shirley was born on April 15, 1936, in Ridgway, Pa., the daughter of Marion C. and Dorothy (Gaston) Smith. She graduated from Brockway High School. She was united in marriage to Kermit Postier on Jan. 2, 2004, at River of Life Church in Cedar Rapids. When Shirley wasn’t working at Square D she enjoyed reading, puzzles and playing games on her computer. Shirley spent many years cooking and baking for people she loved. She made many special vacation memories, especially back home to Pennsylvania. Most of all, Shirley was proud of her large family.
Survivors include her husband, Kermit of Cedar Rapids; children, Robin (Van Patten) Albers and Michael Kimball of Cedar Rapids; and stepchildren, Mindy (Brandt) Hutchison of Hobbs, N.M., Anette (Greg) Shryer of Springfield, Mo., Janelle (Mike) Miller of McPherson, Kan., Suzanne (Greg) Edwards and Stacy (Mike) Cannoy of Marion. Shirley is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Arthur Van Patten Jr. and Henry Joseph Kimball Jr.; children, Arthur J. and Catherine Van Patten, Tracy (Kimball) McLaud; stepsons, Daniel and Douglas Kimball; and her siblings, Marjorie, Martha, Sarah, William, Ruth, Earl, Marion, Rhoda and Donald.
