Shirley Graham, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at home on July 7, 2016. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at St. Mark's Methodist Church, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Memorial services and burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Marshalltown at the Iowa Veterans Home, where her husband, Cecil Graham, resides.
Shirley was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Janesville, Wis., the fourth daughter to Harold and Irene Secrist. She spent her childhood on the farm, where she developed her love of animals and the outdoors. On May 29, 1954, she married Wilford Cecil Graham.
She leaves behind her husband; three sisters, Dee Hunt of Cedar Rapids, Laberta Bickford of Clinton and Geraldine (Ralph) Latham of Grand Marais, Minn.; four children, Terry Graham, Bobbie (Jerry) Scherrman, Harold (Lauri) Graham and Roy (Maria) Graham, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Randy Graham, Adam (Jo Ann) Hoffmann, Ashley (Sean) Carey, Hayley Graham, Logan Graham, Tanner and Nickolas Graham; one great-granddaughter, Emerson Carey; stepgrandchildren, Justin (Kassi) Scherrman, Jacob (Ashley) Scherrman, Brian Moore and Don Medici Jr.; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Chloe Scherrman, Damian Moore, Brianna Moore, Skylar Moore and Jonathon McFadden; and her beloved pets.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law, Byron Hunt and John Bickford.
Shirley worked at Kresge's and Killian's, and then retired from K-Mart after many years as personnel manager.
She loved spending time with her family, friends and pets. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, spinning wool, traveling and desserts.
