Shirley Ann Stoner, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Keystone Care Center. Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 3-5 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Private burial at Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Shirley was born the second youngest child, on July 11, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Ella (Steuber) Floyd. She met her lifetime partner and husband, James L. Stoner, and were united in marriage on March 4, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Chuck, Paul Jr., and Jim; sisters, Betty, Jean Hassel, and Phylis Schrader; and granddaughter, Tracy Mouchka.
Shirley was a mentor and the greatest mom to Linda Stoner, of Cedar Rapids, and Mike and his wife, Jeanne Stoner of Keystone, Iowa. She was a grandma to Angie (Chancy Pierce), Laura (Larry Gessaman), and Mike (Mick) Stoner. She also is survived by her stepgranddaughter, Keonna Shouldy, and great-grandma to eight beautiful children.
Mom enjoyed every moment of her life, she always brought that joy with her on every occasion. She was loved by so many friends and family. She will be missed by all.
The family extends a special thank-you to Keystone Care Center for their dedicated and loving care given to Mom these last several years. Special thank-you to the staff of Essence of Life Hospice for being with Mom and family on her last days with us.
