Shirley Ann Freeman, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away April 30, 2021. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on May 4 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people allowed into the gathering at one time. The use of facemasks or shields is required.
Shirley was born March 25, 1931, to Ervin and Rose (Wagner) Whelchel in Lincoln, Neb. After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, William Freeman Sr., on Aug. 21, 1951, in Glendale, Calif.
She enjoyed playing bridge, her trips to the casino, traveling, and spending time with her beloved cat Kiki. She especially cherished the time with her family.
Shirley is survived by her children, Cynthia Freeman, William (Deanna) Freeman Jr. and Robert (Julie) Freeman; grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha (Andrew), Jason (Wendy), Tabitha (Shawn) and Jamie; and great-grandchildren, Zach, Kylea, Jaylyn, Tristin, Jocelin, Isla, Ethan, Connor and Avri Mae; along with five sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters and three brothers.
