Shirlene Buehler, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away softly, surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Chaplain Joe Kane. Family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Curt) Lawrence, Cindy Rathjen, Mary (Rick) Wood and Larry (Beverly) Buehler; grandchildren, Ann, Josh, Aaron and Asa; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Madison, Jackson, Willem and Conner; and great-great-granddaughter, Kenzie.
Mary Shirlene Wright was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Roy and Irene (McKay) Wright. On Sept. 11, 1948, she married Larry Lee Buehler. He passed on Jan. 22, 1996. Shirlene ended her career at the Cedar Rapids Credit Union, but her great loves were her picnics with family, Jefferson High School football games, adventures with her daughters, spending time with her grandkids and visiting her son's family in Seattle. She was strong in her faith in God and an angel on earth to all who knew her.
By the grace of God she joins her parents, husband, brother and granddaughter, Jennifer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
