Sheryl Sherman Leonard, 93, of Anamosa, IA passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Anamosa.
Sheryl was a 1949 graduate of Anamosa High School and graduated from beautician school in Cedar Rapids. Sheryl married Jack Leonard, her high school sweetheart, on November 26, 1952. She worked as a telephone operator and for the Jones County Department of Human Services.
Sheryl is survived by her children, Lee (Cheryl) Leonard of Des Moines, and An Leonard of Iowa City, grandchildren Jake (Jenny) Fevold, John Leonard, Luke (Miranda) Leonard and Bess (Kyle) Hanrahan, and great-grandchildren Coco Payeur, Jack Leonard, Hayden Fevold, Lily Hanrahan and Riley Hanrahan.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jack Leonard, and her three sisters, Shirley, Anne, and Audrey.
Sheryl was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeyes fan, an avid reader, and a member of several bridge clubs for many years. She enjoyed cooking, daily rides through the park, and spending time with friends and family.
A Remembrance Service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Anamosa United Methodist Church. Rev. Kathryn Newhall will officiate. Burial will be with her husband in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am to the time of service.
Memorials may be directed to the Anamosa Public Library or to the Jones Regional Medical Center.
