Sheryl Mae Mall, 84, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed peacefully on July 27, 2022, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care after an untreatable lung condition.
Sheryl was born Dec. 9, 1937, to Lloyd and Claudine (Craig) Osborn at the Corn Belt Hospital, Belle Plaine. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1955. Sheryl married Clifford “Bruce” Mall on June 19, 1955, at the First Congregational Church, Belle Plaine. Sheryl stayed home with her children until they entered school. She was employed by Citizens State Bank, Hope’s Bridal Boutique, the Tama Juvenile Home and Meskwaki Casino.
Sheryl was the original “Mama Bear” and fiercely loved her family. She was a people person and enjoyed going to auctions, dances, playing penny slots at the casino, antique shopping, card club and was a self-proclaimed addict to toy stores.
She was a life-long member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Sheryl is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bruce; daughter, Jana (Dennis) Munson of Solon; sons, Dr. Robert (Karla Schwab) Mall of Augusta, Ga., and Bill (Connie) of Belle Plaine; as well as six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many beloved family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom Osborn.
A graveside service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. A luncheon will follow at the Belle Plaine American Legion.
