Sherry Lynn Aker passed away on September 1, 2025, in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cedar Park Memorial Park State Room in Cedar Rapids. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born on December 20, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Kenneth and Elizabeth (Koeller) Craig. Sherry worked as an administrative assistant for Hupp Electric, Coke Cola Bottling Company, where she learned to drive a forklift. She then worked as an analyst for the MCI call Center, where she met Richard Aker who was a Systems Administrator, and then was an analyst for Aegon in Cedar Rapids, where she retired early. Sherry grew up boating, snowmobiling and later spent time with friends and family in the family pool. Sherry and Richard traveled many places in their camper over the years and in most recent years they spent winters in warmer places like Florida and Arizona. Both Sherry and Richard had children from previous marriages, so they had their own version of the “Brady Bunch”.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 28 years, Richard, whom she married in Cedar Rapids; children, Nicholas (Lisa) Klima, Elizabeth (Frank) Saracino and Nathan (Alema) Klima; stepsons, Richard JL Aker and Nicholas (Adrianne) Aker; grandchildren, Hunter (Alexa) Klima, Dylan Klima, Izac Klima, Zachary Klima, Audrey Klima, Sophia Saracino, Marrissa Saracino, Christina Saracino, Lucas Saracino, Victoria Saracino, Waled Klima and Kimberly Klima; and one great-grandchild; siblings, Danny Craig, Cristine Craig and Kim Craig.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnels to Towers.
