Sheri Shrader, 77, of Iowa City, passed away on March 26, 2023, following a brief illness.
An informal, relaxed and casual gathering will be held from 1 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville.
Sheri was born on Nov. 18, 1945, in Iowa City, to Leo and Dorothy (Harrington) O’Meara. While attending Regina High School, she worked as a candy striper at Mercy Hospital. From then on, Sheri spent her entire career at Mercy, retiring as an information specialist in 2009.
In her spare time, Sheri enjoyed lunching with groups from Regina, Mercy and spending time cooking and baking (especially chocolate chip cookies!) She was an avid gardener and could be found tending to her many flowers and bushes. Above all, Sheri loved her family. She was a loving mom, a supportive sister and a proud grandmother that treasured her grandkids and embraced every moment with them.
Sheri is survived by her sons, Chris Shrader (Chris) and Tim Shrader; brothers, Jim O’Meara (Joanne Kintop) and John O’Meara (Jeff Draker); and five grandchildren, Griffin, Avery, Mia, Noah and Eli.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Karen Howe.
Memorial donations may be made to The Birdhouse of Johnson County or St. Croix Hospice and online condolences may be shared at www.lensingfuneral.com.
