Shera, Arlene F.
Arlene F. Shera, 87, of Tiffin, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin. A private family burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.
Arlene Fryauf Shera was born July 29, 1923, in Iowa City, the daughter of Frank and Beatrice (Lenoch) Fryauf. Attending schools in Iowa City, she graduated from City High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Merlin “Buck” Shera on July 28, 1947, in Iowa City. Arlene worked as a manager at Fryauf's Leather Goods and then as a treasurer for Hawkeye Food Systems until her retirement in 1975. She was a longtime active member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin as well as the Clear Creek/Amana Optimist Club.
Arlene's family includes her daughter-in-law, Jacquelin Shera of Appleton, Wis.; two grandsons, Neal Shera (Jeanne) and Nolan Shera (Rebecca); her great-granddaughter, Addison; and a brother, Don Fryauf of Davenport, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck; and her son, Dr. Gary Scott Shera.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin or Iowa City Hospice.
