Shelly Marie Etteldorf was born Dec. 8, 1964, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Parnell and Glenda Etteldorf. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1983. Shelly married Marvin Yorgensen in 1986 and together they had twin sons, Ethan and Nathan and one daughter, Marissa. They were later divorced.
In 1996, Shelly married Jeffrey Sargent and they enjoyed camping and cheering on the Hawkeyes at house parties. They later divorced.
In 2004, Shelly and her high school sweetheart, Brett Beeson, rekindled their love. Together they enjoyed taking care of their home, landscaping and fishing together.
Shelly also loved spending time with her family, grandbabies, her dear friend Stacie Reeder, planting flowers, sewing, crafting, loving on her dogs and, of course, thrift-shopping.
Shelly’s family would like to thank Dr. Ann Soenen and Dr. Samuel Wood of Mercy for their extraordinary care over the past 6 years during her courageous battle with GIST cancer.
