Shelley was thoughtful, funny, determined and strong. She was a dedicated, loving mother, wife and daughter. She was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Oct. 28, 1961, to Susanna McCormick. She grew up in Webster City, Iowa, and graduated from Webster City High School in 1980. Shelley attended AIB College of Business where she got her associate degree. After dating Moji for several years, they were married Oct. 26, 1985. She and Moji moved to Milwaukee where they worked, lived and had their children, Sean and Ashley. In 1991, the family moved to Iowa City, Iowa, and Shelley began working at J.M. Swank in North Liberty, where she worked for 24 years.
Shelley was passionate and hard-working in everything she did. She loved people and this was reflected in her work as HR Manager at J.M. Swank. She loved going to work, learning peoples' stories and helping others. Outside of work, she enjoyed going walking with her husband and friends, reading novels, watching her favorite shows, going out to dinner with her book club and cheering on the Hawkeyes. Shelley was the guiding star of her family. She was often the voice of reason in the house, she was calm and collected, and she was known to have a zero-tolerance policy for worrying. Shelley was brave. She was independent. And those who love her will feel her loss deeply.
Shelley is survived by her husband of 30 years, Moji; her son, Sean, and his wife, Hannah of Byron, Ill.; her daughter, Ashley, and her boyfriend, Rob Ludwig of Bloomington, Ind.; her mother, Susanna McCormick, and stepfather, John McCormick of Rock Island, Ill.; her aunt and uncle, Margie and Don Zehner of Webster City, Iowa; and her cousin, Chip Zehner, wife, Kristin, and daughter, Emersyn of Boone, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Pearl Pauline and Art Heidick.
