Shelia R. Williams, 86, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Visitation: 10:00 – 11:30 AM, Monday, February 26, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. Funeral Service: 11:30 AM, Monday, February 26, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Shelia was born on April 19, 1937, in rural Manchester, IA, the daughter of Edgar Oscar and Violet Leona (Lewin) Nelson. For grades 1-6, she attended Cox Creek #9 rural school outside of Strawberry Point. Shelia graduated from Colesburg High School. On April 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to John A. Williams in Elkport, IA. Shelia had worked at Western Bohemian and Collins Radio as a key punch and line worker. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. Shelia was also a Salvation Army Silver Star Mother. At church, she was active in bandage rolling, coffee with the pastor, and bus trips. She enjoyed shopping, fishing, and puzzles. Shelia liked country music and dancing. She had a beautiful flower garden. Shelia was a wonderful cook. She was a creative person and enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and decorating her home.
Survivors include her children, John E. and wife Dianna of Myrtle Beach, SC, Chrystal Strauss of Cedar Rapids, Pamela Bennett and husband Russ of Elizabeth, IL, and Gene Moody and wife JoDee of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband John in 2009; sister, Dorothy (Art) Knutson; brother, Clyde Nelson; and son-in-law, Rich Strauss.
