Sheldon "Shelly" J. Shapiro, 88, of Solon, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Solon Nursing and Care Center. Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St., with a 7 p.m. Masonic service.
Sheldon was born March 29, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Eli Raymond and Charlotte "Lottie" (Goldstein) Shapiro. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. Shelly proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Aline Aucoin. Shelly was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 109 in Lisbon.
Shelly is survived by his son, Brent Shapiro of Fort Worth, Texas; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Aline; and his sister, Merlyn "Lynne."
