SHEILA EDWARDS GARDNER

Sheila Edwards Gardner, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Sheila was born May 23, 1952, the daughter of Earl and Lillian (Kelley) Edwards. She became a nurse in 1979. Sheila enjoyed a long career in nursing at St. Luke's Hospital in cardiac care and then as head nurse at Four Oaks for the last 18 years. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, canning, knitting, gardening and remodeling her home. Sheila enjoyed educating others about health care and learning new things.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish Sheila's memories are her children, Jenna Gardner (Jesse), Anna Matheny (Andrew) and Kara Visek (Kyle); her grandsons, Colton Solem, Aiden Matheny and Knox Visek; her sisters, Earlene Erbe (Brian) and Denise Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
