Shefelbine, Marilyn G. 'Mazie'
Marilyn G. “Mazie” Shefelbine, 89, of 950 22nd St., Marion, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Peter Mitchell will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Sever of Norwalk and Jean Thomas of Marion; four grandchildren, Jesse Thomas, Tybee (Tonya), Jason and Shelby Sever; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers and her husband.
Mazie was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Marion, the daughter of Peter and Hazel Reynolds Harden. She married Silas M. Shefelbine in Linn County. He passed away in 1962. Mazie
was a faithful member of Marion Christian Church and did house work for several families in the Marion and Cedar Rapids area.
She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
