Shedenhelm, Phylis Mary
Phylis Mary Shedenhelm, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Cottage Grove Place. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Beverly Thompson-Travis officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service Saturday. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery at Marengo.
Phylis was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to George T. and Frances J. Cronbaugh Kibler. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1945 and married Russell Shedenhelm on Aug. 7, 1946. They lived on the farm south of Marengo until moving to Cedar Rapids in 1954. He died on Feb. 26, 2005. Phylis worked in the billing department at Killians while going to business school and was secretary to several presidents of Link Belt Speeder and F.M.C. She was a past chapter regent and 50 year life member of Ashley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Phylis enjoyed traveling and volunteering at different organizations.
Survivors include her twin brother, Philip Kibler of Le Claire; sister, Elizabeth Stanerson of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Wilma Kibler of Hiawatha; six nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brother, George Kibler on March 24, 2013.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Cedar Rapids Free Clinic or St. Luke's Hospice.
