Shay, Phyllis Marie
Phyllis Marie Shay, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service.
Phyllis was born April 2, 1926, in Clear Creek Township, the daughter of John J. and Vida Tranter Shay. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1944 and attended Iowa City Commercial College. Phyllis had been employed at University of Iowa Hospitals in the Department of Internal Medicine from 1945 until her retirement in 1988.
Survivors include her nieces, Kris (Jim) Ellis of San Antonio, Texas and Marsha (Roger) Modrell of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and nephews, Rob Kingsbury of Kansas City, Kan. and Bill Kingsbury of Palm Springs, Calif.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marian.
