Shaw, John Leslie Jr.
John Leslie Shaw Jr., 86, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Vinton, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at South Florida Hospitals in Zephyrhills following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with the Rev. Karen Larson officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, with graveside military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Thursday until service time.
John was born May 6, 1924, in Vinton, to John Leslie and Anna Lucille (Brumwell) Shaw Sr., and graduated from high school before serving his nation in the U.S. Military. John farmed before his retirement.
He is survived by his sons, Steven Shaw of Ashville, N.C., Stanley Shaw of Wasburn, Allen (Rhonda) Shaw of Cedar Falls, and David (Dena) Shaw of Temecula, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son; his daughter; and his brother.
