Shaull, Lloyd William
Lloyd William Shaull, 91, died peacefully at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo on Sept. 30, 2009, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blairstown Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown. The casket will not be open at the church on Saturday.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Shaull-Scheer and husband Ron Scheer of Blairstown; his grandchildren, Jared (Kim) Vogeler of Van Horne, Kodi Scheer of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Sam Scheer of Luzerne; his great-grandchildren, Brennan, Trevor and Kael Vogeler, all of Van Horne; and his special friend, Jayne Roth of Blairstown and her family, Jan and Jim Miller, Nick, Jennifer and Kolby Miller, Amy, Andrew, Trenton, Tate and Ty Kuennen, Wendy and Jim Schwab, Jessica, Joel, Elizabeth and Evan Stohlmann, and John, Nancy, Vincent, Spencer and Conner Roth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marguerite; his daughter, Sandra; his brother, Clellan; and his sisters, Alice and Edna.
Lloyd was born April 13, 1918, the son of John and Ida (Slaymaker) Shaull. After graduating from Blairstown High School in 1935, he farmed in the area. He married Marguerite Thode on Feb. 23, 1941. By 1948, he was working at the local garage which later became Shaull & Ullerich Chevrolet. He owned and operated the company for over 30 years in Blairstown.
A consummate volunteer and citizen, Lloyd was involved in many community activities. He served on the Blairstown Fire Department for 38 years and was a charter member of the Blairstown Lions. For nearly four decades, he was chair of the Benton County State Bank board of directors. As a committed member of the Blairstown Presbyterian Church, he served as an elder and trustee for many years. He also volunteered at the Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant every August. In his spare time Lloyd loved traveling, riding horses and woodworking.
A memorial fund has been established.
