Sharon Kaye McKay, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May, 9, 2022, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Boyd Sparks. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and after 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Sharon is survived by two sons, Randy (Pam) of Deep River and Ron (Heidi) of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Raegan (Ron) Wesbrook of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Dusty (Bri), Alicia (Ben), Kyle (Amanda), Aly (Matt), Nathan and Avery; four great-grandchildren, Teagen, Sage, Theo and Maverick; two brothers, Dennis (Julie) Wolf of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Donald (Lori) Wolf of Deep River; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Melvin; and her parents.
Sharon was born Sept. 2, 1940, in Deep River, the daughter of Alton and Alice Wiedow Wolf. She graduated from Deep River High School in 1958. On June 23, 1962, she married Melvin McKay in Deep River. Sharon was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and she was actively involved in The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and the United Methodist Church of Deep River, where she also played the piano.
Sharon enjoyed genealogy, scrapbooking, collecting items and crocheting. She was an Elvis fan and liked watching "General Hospital" and the Game Show Network. Sharon loved spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren's activities and playing with her "grandpets." She will be deeply missed.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for Sharon's favorite charities.
