Sharon Lynn Petrie, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, in the early hours of Sept. 29, 2023, at her home.
Sharon was born Dec. 1, 1941, to Walter and Mary Ivie. She worked for Quaker Oats for 23 years until her retirement. Sharon enjoyed gardening, painting, cake making and porcelain dolls. She participated in being in charge of everything. She loved her family and spending time with her grandkids, especially her special great-nephew Eli Ritz.
She is survived by her children, Sheri Moylan, Ronnie Petrie and Deana Davis; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Debbie Brewer; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Petrie; her parents, Walter and Mary Ivie; and her siblings, Melvin Ivie, Connie Urias and Vicki Bennett.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. with funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Sharon.
