Sharon Homan
SHARON KAY (HENRY) HOMAN
Coralville
Sharon Kay (Henry) Homan, 81, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Brown Deer Memory Care in Coralville, Iowa. Those who knew Sharon are invited to a celebration of life service at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 at the Ackley Recreation Club. Memorials can be directed to the Ackley Public Library.
Sharon was born June 16, 1940, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of A. Thomas and Frances (Duschen) Henry. She was big sister to brother, Tom, and a graduate of East High School in Waterloo and of Gates Business College, where she met her future husband, Gary Lee Homan. They married on Sept. 10, 1960, and lived in Ackley, Iowa, where they raised three children: Tony, Laurie and Peggy. She worked as a librarian at Ackley public schools, a surgical tech at Ellsworth Hospital and as an EMT-A for 25 years on the Ackley Ambulance Service.
An avid reader, Sharon instilled a love of reading in her children and grandchildren and enjoyed her job as librarian for 18 years at the Ackley Public Library. Upon retirement, she and Gary enjoyed time in Bella Vista, Ark., and Ocala, Fla., before moving to Coralville, Iowa.
Sharon enjoyed fishing, ISU sports, card and bridge clubs, crafting, recipes and cooking, and church groups. Sharon was a kind person, a fun friend, a loving wife, and the best mother and grandmother. We will miss her laugh, jokes, songs and constant hugs.
Sharon's children survive her, Tony Homan (Carlos Suarez), Laurie (Dennis) Mitchell and Peggy Klemme. She dearly loved her five grandchildren, Kelsey Klemme, Emily Klemme Guy, Harry Mitchell, Noah Mitchell and Sam Mitchell. She is also survived by brother, Tom Henry.
Her husband and parents preceded Sharon in death. Her beloved dogs, Max and Sam, will be overjoyed to see her again.
